Pacific Northwest Fishing

Walleye

We are a top Walleye fishing guide here in the Pacific Northwest which is slowly becoming one of the best year-round Walleye fisheries in the world. From our trophy Walleye fishing in the late winter/early spring months to our outstanding high catch numbers in spring, summer, and fall, there is an opportunity for any angler from kids to the seasoned Walleye professional.

Our trophy Walleye season can vary from late February to the end of March. Typically we ask that any Walleye that are exceptionally large be released after getting a picture and measurements for spawning and future catch purposes.

Locations

Most of our Walleye fishing takes place in the John Day pool. We launch out of Plymouth, Washington, and fish the waters between Crow Butte and McNary Dam. Some of our fishing will take place above McNary Dam in the Wallula area as well as the Hanford Reach. If you’re from out of town please ask us for recommendations on hotels closest to our fishing area. Or call THE LODGE AT COLUMBIA POINT for a very nice hotel reservation. We also encourage our customers to check wdfw fishing regulations

Effective walleye fishing techniques

Walleye can be caught in several different ways and in several different areas.  Depending on what kind of experience our anglers are looking for we can use a technique that suits them.  Techniques like jigging for walleye are hands on and can be VERY fun and extremely productive, but can also be a little bit frustrating as they require certain skills that can be hard to figure out in a day.  Other methods like trolling crawler harnesses or trolling big plugs are much more friendly to the novice angler as well as children, and will not sacrifice any productivity.  In fact, most of the largest walleye to be caught near the Tri-Cities area are actually caught on plugs.  Do not hesitate to let us know if you have any preference in any walleye fishing technique, and if it is a method that we are sure will make for a fun productive day on the water then we will be more than happy to spend our time using your favorite technique.  We won’t forget that this is YOUR fishing trip and it is aimed to make your day with us the most fun, and productive that it can possibly be!
